What are the differences between version 2.2 and version 2.3:
Fix the problem where version 2.2 would not give a good suggestion
if there was a very minor misspelling (i.e. two letters reversed or
missing a single letter).
Works better on machines with small amounts of memory, or when
shelling to MSDOS from a program to use ShareSpell.
Fixed the problem where it would not return you to the directory you
started in if there where no changes made to the file.
What are the differences between version 2.11 and version 2.2:
Fixed the problem with versions 2.1 and 2.11 not displaying the
last of the text on lines longer than 78 characters.
Added a better correct word suggestion routine.
Made suggested grammar corrections to the manual.
What are the differences between version 2.1 and version 2.11:
There is a minor speed improvement from version 2.1 to 2.11.
You probably won't even notice it, but it's there.
When selecting a file you can use the HOME key to change to a
different disk drive.
I fixed the problem that made ShareSpell think it couldn't find the
dictionary if you tried to edit a backup file. Now it just doesn't
let you edit them.
What are the differences between version 2.0 and version 2.1:
ShareSpell will now handle words longer than 20 characters.
If you enter the file name as parameter at the DOS prompt it no
longer displays the file name momentarily (it was just an
annoyance to some people).
Pressing the <RETURN> key will now make it only ignore the current
occurrence of the word in question. This is the way it should have
been from the beginning. The <ESC> key is for ignoring the word
throughout the entire document.
Fixed the problem with ShareSpell capitalizing the 2nd, 3rd and
so on correction of a corrected word (this was only in some of the
copies of v2.0).
The start up beg screen has been moved to when you exit the ShareSpell
for those who use it by shelling out of their text editor. Now it
will not pause and wait for you to press a key before starting the
spell check.
The display of the document as it passed by has also been updated.
Before when you had corrected a word if it occurred later in the
document the misspelling would be displayed on the screen even
though the text in the file had been corrected.
The most noticeable change is when you start ShareSpell up without
a file name on the command line. Instead of asking for a file name
it displays a list of the files in the directory so that you can
use the cursor keys to move around and select the file.
What are the differences between version 1.6 and version 2.0:
Version 2.0 uses an all new 112,000+ word disk based dictionary.
DICMAN has been added to the system. It allows you to maintain
your dictionary. Features include Adding and Deleting words or
groups of words from the dictionary add large groups of words to
the dictionary or making a file of all the words that you have added
to the dictionary and more.
What is different from version 1.5 to 1.6:
Version 1.6 now will not molest non-ASCII characters greater than 127.
So if you use borders and characters graphics in your document ShareSpell
will leave them alone.
A .BAK file will be made of the file that you spell check. That way if
you check the spelling of a file and decide that you would rather go
back to the first unchecked version you can delete the file and rename
the .BAK file to that of the original's.
You can now use the <F7> key to mark a word you are now sure of for
later correction. Use of the <F7> key will only place a '@' symbol
before the word and ignore all other occurrences of it in the document.
The deeper search from version 1.5 has been made the normal search.
What is different from version 1.4 to 1.5:
Improvement on the handling of apostrophized words again (a.k.a BUG FIX!)
The search for suggested misspellings is MUCH faster now.
<F5> will perform a deeper/longer search for suggested correct spellings
If you use the command line interface (i.e. SS filename) you will be told
if the file does not exist before going to the opening screen.
What is different from version 1.3 to 1.4:
Improved handling of APOSTROPHIZED words
You can now place ShareSpell and the dictionary in a subdirectory
that is in your PATH= command and ShareSpell will finds the dictionary
and run. No matter what your current subdirectory is.
Pressing <ENTER> to skip the current word will now skip all the OCCURRENCES
of it in the document, just like the <ESC> ignore command.
What is different from version 1.2 to 1.3:
A much larger dictionary - The Dictionary now contains over 51,000 words.
Faster - Suggestions of misspelled words in now 10 times faster than in
version 1.2. It makes the program much easier to use.
Invoke a command early - You can now press the the RETURN (ignore word)
key or the ESC (ignore word in document) key
before it is finished finding all suggestions.
Bug fix - Version 1.2 would put the corrected document in the ShareSpell
directory with a file name of SS.$$$ if the file you were
checking was not in the ShareSpell directory. It has been fixed.
Bug fix - Fixed the problem where ShareSpell would mess up the current line
of the screen if you replaced the last word on the line. It only
effected the display.
